Time Use Pattern of the Elderly Job Creation Program Participants and Active Ageing
Lee Suk-Won

Abstract
This study is conducted to analyze how actively the Elderly Job Creation(EJC) program changed its participants¡¯ quality of life. To address the issue, I estimated the change in time use patterns of the participating elderly. In order to control for the potential selection bias due to the fact that every participants¡¯ participation was done by their voluntary application, I used eligible screen-outs as a quasi-equivalent comparison group. Also, as for analytic methods, I used propensity score matching technique with which I was able to match each EJC group members with a comparison group member who possessed similar characteristics. The findings indicate that the EJC program induced the participating elderly to engage in more active way of life. Beyond the effect of increasing the time for paid work, the EJC program was found to have an effect of increasing time invested in other types of active activities, such as religion activity.
